A castle dedicated entirely to the art of glass

Entirely dedicated to the art of glass, the Vitromusée Romont preserves and presents important collections combining stained glass, reverse painting on glass, glass objects and graphic works, as well as tools and materials associated with glass processing. With over 14'000 works, all facets of glass art, from Antiquity to the present day, are represented, making Château de Romont unique in Switzerland.

Living culture

The Vitromusée Romont is committed to a living culture, developing innovative cultural mediation programs at the interface between the transmission of knowledge, creative experience and sharing, and is thus committed to preserving and transmitting the history of an exceptionally rich heritage to a diverse public.

The Vitromusée Romont was inaugurated in 1981 in the Savoyard wing of Romont Castle. The castle, dating back to the Middle Ages, is a perfect setting for the Swiss Museum of Stained Glass and Glass Art. The footbridge, built in 2006, links the museum's historic core with the Fribourg wing dedicated to glass painting.
